Meet Michael

Educator, Traveler, Storyteller

Michael Artman, literary and historical travel presenter based in Port Huron, Michigan

Michael Artman has spent over three decades traveling and photographing the world. As a former history and American literature instructor, he brings a genuine sense of discovery to every destination, blending literary insight with deep historical context.

He specializes in both domestic and international destinations, crafting presentations that go well beyond the guidebook. Each one shares the stories of the people, the literature, and the history that shaped each place. Each travelogue includes an audio-visual presentation, handouts, local accommodation recommendations, and regional recipes.

Michael has presented at libraries, museums, universities, and community programs throughout Michigan, including Michigan State University, Central Michigan University, St. Clair Community College, Grosse Pointe War Memorial, and AAA of Michigan.

Testimonials

Michael's presentation on Route 66 had our patrons completely engaged from start to finish. The combination of personal photography, literary history, and cultural context made for one of the best programs we've hosted in years.

We brought Michael in for our senior travel series and the response was overwhelming. He has a rare gift for making you feel like you were actually there — standing at the rim of the Grand Canyon or walking the streets of Vienna.

The Hemingway's Michigan program was a genuine revelation. Michael connected the literature to the landscape in a way that felt fresh and personal. Several attendees came back the following month just to see his next travelogue.

Our museum visitors absolutely loved the Jack London's Alaska presentation. The handouts, the historical detail, the recipes — Michael puts real care into every part of the experience. We've already booked him again.
